From the Desk of the Baron and Baroness:
We live in a world undergoing vast social changes. And change is rarely comfortable. Our organization is no more insulated from the drivers of this change than is any other, and there is nothing innate in the SCA that protects us from the consequences of implicit bias.
As the Baron and Baroness, we appreciate that human beings are flawed, Ourselves included. None of us has a back-trail without blemish. And we will all express those flaws, or different ones, again. This is an inescapable fact of human nature.
But going forward, we can strive to be better. The Society exists to provide a venue for the highest ideals of honor, service, and courtesy. Discrimination, sexual harassment, and bullying will not be tolerated within our Barony. Slurs, intimidation, and threats to a person, property, or family is utterly outside the bounds of acceptable behavior.
All persons with an interest in selectively re-creating the Middle Ages and Renaissance are welcome in the Barony of Thor’s Mountain, regardless of race, skin color, religious creed, sex or sexuality, or any other immutable trait.
Specifically:
Everyone shall have equal access to advancement within our group. All Offices are open to all persons, without reference to race, skin color, religious creed, sex or sexuality, or any other immutable trait.
All temporary positions, including but not limited to jobs like Autocrat, Head Cook, and other short-term positions are open to all persons, without reference to race, skin color, religious creed, sex or sexuality, or any other immutable trait.
All members of the populace are welcome to express any questions or concerns to Ourselves or Our Seneschal, and We will bring our full attention to it.
